‘Ampodium’ is a silky and exceptionally elegant wine from the Cote-Rotie AOC made by one of the pioneers of the region. The nose shows classic red and dark fruit notes with floral, mineral and smoky touches. The palate is medium bodied and very graceful, with smooth tannins and great length. Drinking now with a big decant and will do well with some time in the cellar.

“Cask sample. Pepper, dried flowers, blue fruit and sandalwood. Lovely, taut tannins. Very fine and with great freshness behind. A lovely salinity adds to the freshness. Will drink very well young, and also age relatively well. (AC).” Drink 2025 – 2032

“The 2021 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium used 90% whole-clusters during fermentation. This winemaking technique becomes visible in the aromatic profile through a marked stemminess, complemented by bright red fruits, cedar and floral shadings. Medium-bodied and framed by low levels of soft tannins, the 2021 is a polished and refreshing Ampodium that concludes with a bright finish.” Drink 2025 – 2029

“Looking like a very good year for this blend, which is concentrated, lively and juicy, with plenty of assertive but fine tannin which suggest waiting a while. Hard to make a definitive judgement on tasting just two barrels, but this is looking very promising. Four weeks in tank, 18 months in oak (limited new), with natural yeasts and as many stems as possible.”
